NIH joins Trump’s $5B AI Genesis Mission to boost biomedical research
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that the National Institutes of Health will take part in the President’s Genesis Mission, a $5 billion AI-driven effort.
The initiative aims to accelerate biomedical discoveries, with emphasis on chronic disease, pediatric cancer, and faster drug development, using AI models and autonomous labs.
More than 15 federal agencies will contribute funding, data sets, and research facilities, expanding the whole-government collaboration that began under the Department of Energy.
The program follows a 2025 executive order and reflects the administration’s focus on applying advanced computing to uncover disease mechanisms and improve clinical translation.
