Tempus AI to acquire cancer test maker Personalis for $1.5 billion

Tempus AI announced it will buy Personalis, a Fremont-based company that offers a molecular residual disease test for cancer, in a deal valued at $1.5 billion.

The acquisition is expected to expand Tempus's capabilities in cancer diagnostics, treatment selection, and monitoring for disease recurrence, building on a partnership that began in 2023.

The transaction includes a purchase price of $16.25 per share, roughly a 6% premium, with up to half payable in cash, and is slated to close in late 2026 or early 2027 pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.
