Biotronik Neuro acquires Soin Neuroscience spinal cord stimulation patent portfolio to boost next-gen pain therapy

Biotronik Neuro, the neuromodulation arm of Berlin-based medtech firm Biotronik, announced it has purchased a collection of spinal cord stimulation patents from Ohio-based Soin Neuroscience.

The acquired intellectual property, which includes adaptive stimulation technology, will be integrated into Biotronik Neuro’s existing Neuro platform that already supports flexible programming, aiming to develop a next-generation chronic pain treatment.

Soin Neuroscience, founded by pain specialist Amol Soin, will remain an independent company and continue its research activities, while the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The move positions Biotronik Neuro to compete more directly with market leaders such as Medtronic and Boston Scientific, which currently dominate the spinal cord stimulation market.
