San Diego biotech BlossomHill files for IPO to fund EGFR lung-cancer drug program
BlossomHill Therapeutics, a San Diego oncology biotech focused on small‑molecule drugs, has filed an S‑1 registration statement to become a public company.
The company, founded in February 2024 by scientist‑entrepreneur J. Jean Cui after her previous venture was acquired for $4.1 billion, has already raised $173 million from investors such as Colt Ventures, Cormorant Asset Management and OrbiMed.
Proceeds from the offering are intended to finance its early‑stage pipeline, especially the macrocyclic EGFR‑targeting candidate BH‑30643, which is currently enrolling in a phase 1/2 trial for EGFR‑mutated non‑small cell lung cancer.
BlossomHill plans to use the capital to advance the ongoing study and launch a potential registrational phase 2 trial, positioning the drug against AstraZeneca’s Tagrisso, the current first‑line standard of care.
