BMS partners with Nvidia to build the largest AI supercomputer for drug research

Jul 20, 2026·read at Fierce Biotech ↗DealPositive

Bristol Myers Squibb announced an expanded partnership with Nvidia aimed at creating the biggest AI‑driven supercomputing platform for its drug discovery and development work.

The new system will be an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD equipped with AIDGX Vera Rubin NVL72 hardware, which BMS says will be the most powerful and energy‑efficient single‑owned Nvidia infrastructure in the life‑sciences sector.

The move builds on a three‑year collaboration that began with an earlier DGX deployment and complements other AI initiatives at BMS, including work with Anthropic’s Claude model and a Microsoft partnership to accelerate lung‑cancer diagnostics. The company views these investments as key components of a broader hybrid‑intelligence strategy across multiple disease areas.
