Lyora Therapeutics launches to revive early-stage genetic eye disease programs from Editas and Biogen

Lyora Therapeutics announced its formation as a new genetic‑medicine company focused on eye diseases. The firm will take over several early‑stage programs that were previously in the pipelines of Editas Medicine and Biogen.

The startup was co‑founded by Luk Vandenberghe and Eric Pierce, both researchers from Harvard Medical School, and is led by CEO Pam Stetkiewicz. Their goal is to accelerate development of these stalled projects and bring them closer to clinical testing.

Lyora aims to leverage its expertise in gene‑editing and delivery technologies to address unmet needs in inherited retinal disorders, positioning itself as a niche player in the growing field of ocular gene therapy.
