Oberland invests up to $400M in MeiraGTx eye gene‑therapy pipeline

Jul 7, 2026·read at BioPharma Dive ↗DealPositive

Oberland Capital Management announced a financing package that could total $400 million to support MeiraGTx's development of gene therapies for inherited eye disorders. The arrangement includes up to $375 million in funding and an equity contribution of up to $25 million.

In exchange, Oberland will receive single‑digit royalties on three MeiraGTx candidates targeting different ocular conditions. One candidate, for Leber congenital amaurosis‑4, was previously licensed to Eli Lilly, while MeiraGTx retains rights to bota‑vec for X‑linked retinitis pigmentosa and AAV2‑hAQP1 for radiation‑induced xerostomia.

MeiraGTx executives said the investment reflects strong confidence in the data and commercial potential of the programs, and they anticipate the possibility of bringing the three treatments to market within the next one to two years.
