Al­most any promis­ing mol­e­cule quick­ly has a horde of copy­cats. De­vel­op­ment costs keep ris­ing. In­vestors are lean­ing on seem­ing­ly safer tar­gets, hop­ing to quick­ly flip com­pa­nies to big phar­ma. Re­al break­throughs take more risks, more com­mit­ment and of­ten more cash than ever be­fore. As part of our an­nu­al End­points 11 awards, our team of sci­ence jour­nal­ists is look­ing for biotechs that will de­fine the next few years. We spend the sum­mer scru­ti­niz­ing hun­dreds of names to find our hon­orees. And while we know many of the names that will even­tu­al­ly make the cut, we don’t know them all — so we want to hear from you. If there’s a pri­vate biotech start­up that you think is ex­cep­tion­al, you can nom­i­nate them by Ju­ly 15. If you’re think­ing about nom­i­nat­ing, please know that we set a very high stan­dard. Com­pa­nies must be pri­vate, have deeply dif­fer­en­ti­at­ed and in­no­v­a­tive sci­ence, be backed by a strong team and have the fi­nan­cial fire­pow­er to turn am­bi­tion in­to re­al­i­ty.
