States sue Trump administration to halt Medicaid work-requirement rollout
Four states filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Oregon challenging the Trump administration's Medicaid work-requirement changes.
The complaint alleges the overhaul would cause sovereign, fiscal and public-health harms and that the administration lacks authority to impose the rules.
The suit follows a federal judge's recent ruling that implementing the requirements would cause irreparable harm and arrives less than 60 days before the Jan. 1 deadline for the One Big Beautiful Bill, which would require Medicaid recipients to work, volunteer or attend school for 80 hours a month, with limited disability exemptions.
