Lundbeck advances PACAP-targeting migraine drug after mid-stage trial shows reduction in migraine days

Lundbeck reported new data from a mid-stage study of its experimental migraine prevention therapy, bocunebart, which targets the PACAP protein involved in headache pathways.

The trial enrolled hundreds of patients who continued to suffer migraines despite trying up to four prior treatments, testing both an intravenous infusion and a subcutaneous injection of the drug.

After 12 weeks, participants receiving bocunebart experienced an average drop of 4.24 migraine days per month, compared with a 2.86‑day reduction in the placebo group.

While some analysts described the results as mixed, Lundbeck said the findings were sufficient to move the program forward into the next phase of development.
