Setara Biosciences launches with $90 million to pursue Charcot-Marie-Tooth and other rare-disease therapies
Setara Biosciences announced its formation on Friday, backed by $90 million of financing to advance a pipeline of experimental medicines.
The company’s first candidate targets the genetic disorder Charcot-Marie-Tooth and is also being evaluated for overactive bladder, reflecting a dual‑indication strategy.
In addition to the lead program, Setara is initiating several discovery‑stage projects aimed at other rare conditions, as well as epilepsy and migraine treatments.
Setara emerged from the team that built Actio Biosciences, which sold its flagship epilepsy asset to Jazz Pharmaceuticals for $1.3 billion earlier this year, leaving the remaining assets and talent to form the new venture.
