Medline orders removal of all brand beds and accessories over fire and asphyxiation hazards
Medline has issued an urgent field safety notice indicating that all of its branded hospital beds and related components must be removed or corrected because of identified safety risks.
The FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health released an early alert warning that the devices could cause fire, electrical overheating, patient entrapment, or asphyxiation, potentially leading to serious injury or death.
The notice, first sent to customers on October 14, 2026 and updated on October 24, 2026, lists home-care, bariatric, and long-term-care beds, as well as pendants, accessories, replacement parts, and bundled order packages as affected.
Medline advises users to either discontinue use or follow updated instructions to repair the equipment before further use, and the agency will continue to post updates as new information emerges.
