Flagship launches Etcelera, an AI-driven biotech combining three platforms to predict drug effects

Flagship Pioneering announced the formation of Etcelera, a new biotech emerging from stealth that will focus on AI-powered drug discovery.

The company brings together the technologies of Cellarity, Etiome and Empress Therapeutics and adds Flagship’s own artificial‑intelligence tools to model cause‑and‑effect relationships in human biology.

Etcelera plans to train its models on extensive datasets, including a foundation model built from data on millions of cells, to learn the language of biology and forecast how cells will respond to new therapeutic interventions.
