Biotech sector logs 31 IPOs in 2026, with four more slated, still far below 2021 boom
Biotech IPO activity has accelerated this year, with 31 companies completing public offerings so far, according to BioSpace data.
This figure exceeds the totals from each of the previous four years-2025 saw eight IPOs, while 2024, 2023 and 2022 had 19, 13 and 17 respectively-but remains well under the pandemic‑driven surge that produced nearly 100 biotech listings in 2021.
October contributed four new listings: immunoregulatory developer TRexBio, hypertension‑focused Retension Pharmaceuticals, RNAi specialist City Therapeutics and AI‑driven Iambic Therapeutics.
Another four firms have filed to go public. Lycia Therapeutics aims to raise about $227.8 million for its protein degrader pipeline, Aspen Neuroscience seeks capital for its stem‑cell therapy sasineprocel for Parkinson’s disease, and Bambusa Therapeutics has outlined plans for an IPO to fund its programs.
