Ivonescimab cuts death risk by 34% in Chinese trial for squamous NSCLC

Data presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology showed that ivonescimab, a bispecific antibody combining two established cancer drugs, lowered the risk of death by 34% compared with standard therapy in patients with squamous non-small cell lung cancer in a trial conducted in China.

Summit Therapeutics co-CEO Robert Duggan said the results demonstrate a valuable product in early development, while Akeso Therapeutics, the drug's developer, declined to comment.

Oncologists noted the outcome exceeds expectations but also highlighted the need for additional studies in more diverse populations to confirm the benefit outside China.
