Novo Nordisk streamlines R&D to speed discovery, adds AI to integrated research teams

Novo Nordisk's new CEO Maziar Mike Doustdar, who took the helm in the summer of 2025, announced a reorganization of the company's R&D structure.

Jacob Sten Petersen, head of global research, explained that the reorganization merges early-stage discovery teams with later-stage development groups to create a more integrated pipeline and accelerate decision-making.

Petersen also highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in the new workflow, saying AI tools will help prioritize targets and reduce cycle times, aiming to bring discoveries to patients faster.
