Americans show higher trust in science than most countries, survey finds
A new Wellcome Global Monitor survey of people in 140 countries found that 52% of Americans say they have a lot of trust in science, compared with just 26% globally.
Only 40% of Americans reported a lot of confidence in U.S. hospitals and health clinics, a level that matches Portugal and Uruguay.
The survey also showed that 45% of Americans would get a vaccine recommended by a nurse or doctor right away, far higher than the 28% reported in Germany. In the United States, the share of people who believe science benefits most people rose from 48% to 57%, while the global share fell from 42% to 37%.
