Argenx halts late-stage Vyvgart trial in Sjogren’s disease after futility finding, shares tumble 13%
Argenx announced it is ending the Phase 3 UNITY trial of its Vyvgart Hytrulo injection in Sjogren’s disease after an independent data monitoring committee concluded the study would not meet its primary endpoint of improving systemic disease activity.
The decision was described as a surprise futility finding, removing what analysts called the next potential blockbuster expansion opportunity for Vyvgart, which is already approved for generalized myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.
The news sent Argenx shares down more than 13% at market open, wiping out roughly $130 per share in value. The setback was partially offset by a mid‑stage positive result in a separate celiac disease asset acquired in the company’s $2.2 billion Forte Biosciences purchase.
