Nova Biomedical issues global correction for StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter over software patient-ID error
Nova Biomedical announced a global medical device correction for its StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System.
The correction targets a software issue in the Gen 2.0 model that can leave prior patient information on the screen after a barcode is scanned, potentially assigning a glucose result to the wrong patient.
If the incorrect result is accepted, clinicians could make treatment decisions based on another patient’s data, risking delayed or inappropriate therapy.
The problem does not affect earlier versions of the StatStrip system, only the most recent Gen 2.0 model.
The company initiated the correction on July 24, 2026, and the announcement was made on October 5, 2026.
