Americans in Congo May Have Been Exposed to Ebola; One Shows Possible Symptoms, Tests Pending
Several Americans traveling in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are believed to have had high risk exposure to suspected Ebola cases, according to sources familiar with the situation.
At least one of the individuals may have developed symptoms, but test results have not yet been released.
U.S. officials are reportedly working to move the exposed persons to a secure quarantine facility, with discussions about transferring them to an American military base in Germany rather than the United States.
The sources, who requested anonymity, said they are not authorized to discuss details publicly, and the outbreak’s suspected case count is already at least several dozen.
