Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur expands recall to more Great Value and Trader Joe's frozen berry products over E. coli risk
Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A., a Chilean producer, announced on Oct 2, 2026 that it is expanding its earlier recalls of frozen organic berries.
The expansion adds additional lots of Great Value frozen organic triple berry blend (10 oz), Great Value frozen organic blueberries (10 oz), and one lot of Trader Joe’s frozen organic mixed berry blend (12 oz) because of potential contamination with Escherichia coli O145:H28.
E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin‑producing strain that can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and in vulnerable individuals may lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome.
The recalled Great Value products were distributed to select Walmart stores in 30 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana.
