Enanta cuts 37 jobs as it pivots toward immunology and awaits key antiviral trial readouts

Enanta Pharmaceuticals announced it is laying off 37 employees as it refocuses resources ahead of upcoming trial readouts.

The company said the decision was part of a fiscal year‑end review to right‑size the organization across all departments and improve efficiency.

Enanta currently has about 120 full‑time staff and is moving forward with a phase 2b trial of its RSV antiviral zelicapavir in infants, with topline data expected next year, and plans a phase 2b/3 study in high‑risk adults later this year.

The drug previously succeeded in a pediatric study but failed a mid‑stage adult trial last year, though the company highlighted promising subgroup results as justification for continued development.
