Eli Lilly earmarks up to $3.25 billion for partnership with InnoCare Pharma

Eli Lilly announced an upfront payment of $100 million to Beijing‑based InnoCare Pharma to start work on drug candidates for five targets that have critical unmet medical needs. The agreement also includes the possibility of up to $3.25 billion in development and commercial milestone payments, plus single‑digit tiered royalties on any products that reach market.

The two companies will combine Lilly's resources with InnoCare’s drug discovery platform, though they have not disclosed which disease areas or indications they will pursue. InnoCare focuses on cancer and autoimmune disorders.

The partnership adds to Lilly’s recent acquisition activity, which this year has seen deals such as a $7 billion offer for Kelonia Therapeutics, a $7.8 billion deal for Centessa Pharmaceuticals, and a $2.875 billion transaction for Merida Biosciences.
