Pentagon defends labeling WuXi AppTec as Chinese military firm, warning of contract limits

The U.S. Department of Defense is standing by its recent decision to place WuXi AppTec on a list of companies tied to the Chinese military.

The designation could bar the contract manufacturing firm from participating in U.S. government procurement programs, potentially affecting its revenue streams.

WuXi AppTec, a major provider of pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing services, had previously challenged the listing in court, but a federal judge only issued a temporary block.

The Pentagon says the move is based on national security concerns and will be enforced unless further legal action overturns it.
