All 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico join new Medicaid most-favored-nation drug pricing model, Trump says

President Donald Trump announced that every U.S. state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will take part in a new Medicaid drug‑pricing framework.

The model requires pharmaceutical manufacturers to provide supplemental rebates so that Medicaid’s net price for covered drugs matches the most‑favored‑nation price used by other payers.

The announcement was made at the White House on Sept. 18, 2026 in the presence of state governors and officials from the Department of Health and Human Services.
