Anthropic opens limited access to Mythos AI for life-science researchers

Anthropic announced it is beginning a verification program that will let a select group of life-science researchers use its Mythos large-language model.

When Mythos was first released on July 1, the company said the model was too powerful to be applied to biology and therefore barred such use. The new program marks a shift in that policy.

Participants will undergo a vetting process to ensure responsible use, and Anthropic will monitor how the model is applied to tasks such as data analysis and hypothesis generation.

The move reflects growing interest in AI tools for drug discovery, but Anthropic emphasized that access will remain limited while safety safeguards are refined.
