Cullinan and Taiho report six-month survival gain for EGFR exon 20 NSCLC in phase 3 trial
Cullinan Therapeutics and Taiho Oncology presented interim data from their phase 3 Rezilient3 study, which evaluated the tyrosine kinase inhibitor zipalertinib combined with platinum‑based chemotherapy in patients with EGFR exon 20 insertion‑mutated non‑small cell lung cancer.
The trial, enrolling 279 previously untreated adults with locally advanced or metastatic disease, showed a median overall survival extension of six months compared with chemotherapy alone. Median progression‑free survival was 14.5 months versus 8.5 months, and the objective response rate rose to 65% from 40.3% in the control arm.
These results were disclosed at the World Conference on Lung Cancer in Seoul and suggest the zipalertinib‑chemo regimen could challenge Johnson & Johnson’s Rybrevant in the front‑line setting for this molecular subgroup.
