CDC says hantavirus risk to public remains low despite cruise ship outbreak

Two CDC doctors told reporters the risk of hantavirus to the general public is low and that the agency is engaged at every step of the response.

While some infectious‑disease experts have suggested the CDC’s actions lag behind those of the World Health Organization, CDC officials emphasized that their priority is protecting passengers on the ship and American communities.
