MedTech Boston Scientific cyberattack likely to have ‘material impact’ on financial results By Ben Adams Sep 8, 2026 11:44am Boston Scientific cyberattack Devices MedTech The recent cyberattack on Boston Scientific is looking more serious than the medtech major first thought, with the company predicting a possible hit to its third-quarter and full-year results. The company revealed in a Sep. 7 SEC filing that last month's cyberattack is "likely to have a material impact on the Company’s results of operations for the third quarter and full year 2026." It now sees it as "unlikely" that it can meet its net sales growth and adjusted EPS guidance ranges for both the third quarter and full year 2026.

"The Company anticipates recovering some portion of the impacted revenue as it continues to ramp operations globally, fulfill customer orders and reduce remaining backlogs, however the full impacts are not yet known," it said in the filing. Shares in the company fell 4% by midday Tuesday on the news after markets reopened following Labor Day. In an earlier update, Boston Scientific said it had made significant progress restoring global operations, including much of its distribution network.

The company also said it was making progress across its broader supply chain. “All sterilization facilities are operational and processing products, and manufacturing has resumed across most facilities globally, with additional capabilities continuing to come online,” the company said. Related Boston Scientific hit by cyberattack causing ‘disruptions’ to parts of its business The updates come after Boston Scientific detected a “cybersecurity incident” on Aug.

25 that affected certain parts of its information technology systems and resulted in a global disruption to the company’s operations. The incident affected access to information systems and business applications that “support aspects of the Company’s operations,” Boston Scientific said in an Aug. 26 SEC filing.

That included its ability to process and ship customer orders. “Teams are working around the clock to fulfill customer orders, reduce backlogs and accelerate the delivery of products to customers and the patients who depend on them,” the company said in its statement.
