Mass General Brigham drops Dana-Farber from its Medicare Advantage network starting Oct 1

Mass General Brigham announced that its Medicare Advantage plan will no longer include Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in its provider network beginning October 1, following a recent split between the two health systems.

The plan, which serves roughly 20,500 members, currently has only a small portion of enrollees receiving cancer treatment at Dana-Farber at any given time.

One affected patient, an 88‑year‑old retired accountant who has seen the same oncologist for decades, will need to either locate a new cancer specialist within the plan’s network or consider switching insurance to maintain his current care.

The change highlights ongoing tensions in Boston’s hospital landscape as integrated health systems renegotiate relationships and network affiliations.
