Novartis to cut about 130 jobs in Switzerland as it reshapes biologics production in Basel
Novartis announced it will eliminate roughly 130 positions in Switzerland as part of a reorganization of its biologics technical development and manufacturing footprint in Basel.
The company plans to cease small-volume biologics production at its Kleinbasel facility by the end of 2027, and will move laboratories for cell banks, analytical testing and technical development to the main Novartis campus by the end of 2028.
Executives said the changes support a long-term strategy to create a new biologics technical development center that complements existing research activities on the Basel campus.
Novartis pledged to treat affected staff with respect, offering comprehensive support throughout the consultation process and beyond.
