Osivax licenses GC Biopharma seasonal flu vaccine to develop combined OVX836-GC FLU shot

Osivax has secured a non-exclusive license from GC Biopharma for its seasonal influenza vaccine, GC FLU, to pair with Osivax’s mid-phase candidate OVX836.

OVX836 targets the conserved nucleoprotein of influenza A, while GC FLU is a traditional inactivated vaccine that induces antibodies against hemagglutinin of both A and B strains. Combining them could broaden protection and reduce the need for frequent strain updates.

Under the agreement, Osivax will handle development and commercialization of the combination outside Japan and Korea, while GC Biopharma will supply the GC FLU component and receive royalty payments.

Early data suggest that adding OVX836 to a standard flu shot may improve efficacy against diverse influenza A viruses, a key goal for the industry.
