FDA approves Rasonque, first therapy targeting genetic cause of advanced pancreatic cancer

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted approval to Rasonque, a drug from Revolution Medicines, for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. The medicine, whose generic name is daraxonrasib, is the first treatment designed to attack a genetic driver of this aggressive disease.

In a pivotal trial read out earlier this year, patients receiving Rasonque as a second‑line therapy saw overall survival nearly double compared with standard care, and the median overall survival was extended.

The approval marks a potential shift in how pancreatic cancer is managed, offering a new therapeutic option for a malignancy that has long had limited effective treatments.
