FDA approves brexu-cel CAR-T therapy for relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma, highlighting safety considerations

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted approval to brexu-cel, a CAR T-cell therapy, for patients with relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). This is the first CAR T indication specifically for MCL.

Approval was based on clinical trial results that demonstrated high response rates and durable remissions in heavily pre‑treated patients.

Physicians are urged to be vigilant about known CAR T safety risks, including cytokine release syndrome and neurotoxicity, and to follow established management guidelines.
