Trump administration expected to nominate White House policy aide Heidi Overton as FDA commissioner

President Donald Trump is expected to put forward White House deputy director of domestic policy Heidi Overton as the next commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to STAT.

Overton, who has served in the White House focusing on domestic policy issues, would take over the agency that oversees drug approvals, safety and public health, though no official announcement has been made yet.

In the same briefing, Novo Nordisk disclosed that it is testing lower doses of its oral Wegovy formulation to determine the minimum amount needed for effective weight loss.
