Eyepoint's wet AMD therapy misses primary goal in Phase 3, stock tumbles

Eyepoint reported that its experimental drug Duravyu did not keep vision in patients with wet age-related macular degeneration when given less frequently than the standard of care, causing the Phase 3 trial to miss its primary endpoint.

The missed endpoint threatens the company’s plan to file for regulatory approval in a market that already has several approved therapies.

Following the announcement, Eyepoint’s shares fell sharply, while shares of Ocular Therapeutix, a rival developing a competing eye treatment slated for FDA submission later this year, rose.
