New state and federal funding fuels biotech hub growth in Pennsylvania, Kansas City and beyond

Government programs in Pennsylvania, New York, Kansas City and Central Virginia are pouring new funding into regional biotech hubs as pharma manufacturing investment surges.

Matt Gardner, sector president for life sciences at CBRE Enterprise, called the incentives "great signals" and described the wave of capital expenditure from global pharma leaders as "generational."

Despite the influx of money, experts caution that funding alone will not dictate where companies build new facilities. CBRE vice chairman Seth Martindale said site selection decisions depend on many factors beyond incentives.

So far, the initiatives have not been large enough to trigger major relocations, but they aim to position the regions as attractive destinations for biotech growth.
