Vaccine makers say splitting MMR vaccine is impractical despite presidential directive

Vaccine manufacturers responded to a recent order from President Donald Trump to separate the combined measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, noting that while the concept is theoretically possible, it faces significant practical hurdles.

Industry experts highlighted the extensive reformulation, testing, and regulatory work required to create three distinct vaccines, which would likely delay availability and increase costs.

The companies indicated that the current combined formulation remains the most efficient way to deliver protection against the three diseases, and they are not planning immediate moves to split the product.
