WHO calls Trump’s vaccine policy order misguided, warns it could increase needle shots and disease risk for children

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and other senior officials criticized a new U.S. executive order that seeks to overhaul the childhood vaccination schedule.

The order, signed by President Trump, proposes cutting back the number of recommended vaccines and replacing combination shots such as the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine with separate single-pathogen vaccines.

WHO officials said the proposal is politically motivated, contradicts scientific evidence, and could expose children to more injections and higher risk of preventable diseases.

They also refuted the claim linking vaccines to autism, emphasizing that vaccines, including MMR, are safe and do not cause the condition.
