Lilly's Foundayo obesity pill posts $98 million Q2 sales, trails Novo's Wegovy

Aug 5, 2026·read at BioSpace ↗Negative readoutNeutral

Eli Lilly introduced its oral obesity treatment Foundayo after receiving FDA approval in April 2025. The drug entered the market in the second quarter of 2026, marking Lilly's first foray into an oral GLP‑1 therapy for weight management.

In its debut quarter, Foundayo generated $98 million in sales. By contrast, Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill recorded $355 million over the same period, and its second‑quarter sales rose to $496 million. Analysts noted that Lilly's numbers fell short of consensus estimates, though the shortfall was anticipated.

Lilly executives said the company is making meaningful progress in building the brand and educating patients and caregivers about the new product. The broader earnings report showed Lilly's overall quarterly revenue exceeding expectations, and the company's share price rose nearly 5% following the announcement.
