US releases $600M pledged to global vaccine alliance Gavi after year‑long delay

The United States has released the $600 million it pledged to Gavi, the global vaccine alliance.

The funds had been held in limbo for about a year before the Treasury completed the transfer.

Senator Susan Collins, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, highlighted the importance of the funding for expanding vaccine access in low‑income countries.

The disbursement fulfills the U.S. commitment made earlier and supports Gavi’s efforts to procure and distribute vaccines worldwide.
