Viridian's elegrobart shows strong results in chronic thyroid eye disease trial, challenging Amgen's Tepezza
Viridian Therapeutics announced that its injectable drug elegrobart met its primary goals in a late-stage study of patients with chronic thyroid eye disease. The trial reported response rates of 50% for a once-monthly dose and 54% for an every-other-month dose after 24 weeks, compared with 15% for placebo, a difference the company said was highly statistically significant.
The once-monthly regimen also improved double vision, with 61% of treated patients showing improvement versus 38% in the control group. The longer-lasting dose did not achieve statistical significance for this symptom.
These results contrast with earlier Phase 3 data that had disappointed investors and position elegrobart as a competitive threat to Amgen’s Tepezza in the thyroid eye disease market.
