FDA advisory panel adds six peptides to compounding bulk drug list, rejects one

The FDA’s advisory committee concluded a two-day meeting on Friday, reviewing seven peptide drug substances for inclusion on the agency’s bulk-drug compounding list.

Committee members voted to add six of the seven peptides to the list, expanding the substances that can be used by pharmacies that compound medications.

One peptide was not approved for inclusion, leaving it off the list.

The decision broadens the range of bulk drug substances available for compounding, which could affect pharmacy practices and supply chains.
