HHS, FDA and partners to convene experts on clinical AI standards

The White House, the Department of Health and Human Services, the FDA and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology are bringing together experts to discuss how clinical artificial intelligence should be benchmarked and evaluated. The goal is to develop a consensus set of principles for AI use in patient care.

The initiative will run as a one‑month sprint divided into a written phase followed by a discussion phase, allowing participants to submit input and then debate the proposals.

STAT Health Tech correspondent Mario Aguilar reviewed the invitation and highlighted that the effort reflects a coordinated push to create clear standards for emerging health technologies.

This move signals increasing regulatory focus on AI tools that could affect drug development, diagnostics and other pharma‑related applications.
