MDCalc introduces quality-rating system for over 800 clinical calculators used by doctors

MDCalc, a health‑technology company, announced a new quality‑rating system that will evaluate the more than 800 clinical calculators doctors rely on for decisions such as kidney function, birth outcomes, and disease risk.

The ratings are intended to increase accountability and equity by highlighting the validation strength and limitations of each tool, addressing concerns that many calculators lack robust evidence.

The initiative, led by health‑systems researcher Shazia Siddique who joined MDCalc last year, aims to help clinicians choose reliable scores and improve patient care across specialties.
