Uganda remains silent on Marburg outbreak updates, WHO says
The World Health Organization noted that Uganda has not provided any new information since it announced a Marburg virus outbreak late last month.
WHO officials have sent multiple requests for details on the investigation’s findings, including how the virus started and its current spread, but have received no response.
The agency has formally invoked the International Health Regulations, which obligate member states to share information on cross‑border health threats, and is awaiting Uganda’s reply.
The lack of updates hampers global monitoring and preparedness efforts for the deadly disease.
