Amylyx to read out pivotal endocrine drug study results later this quarter

Amylyx Pharmaceuticals will read out results later this quarter from a study of a new treatment for a rare endocrine disorder.

The drug, avexitide, is being developed to prevent severe, uncontrolled drops in blood sugar that can occur after stomach-reducing surgery for weight loss. The readout could be a key step toward regulatory approval.

The upcoming readout follows Amylyx’s earlier decision to voluntarily pull an ALS drug from the market after a follow-on study showed it did not help patients, underscoring the company’s shift toward endocrine therapy.
