Innovent Biologics partners with Spero to advance autoimmune drug candidate beyond GSK antibiotic

Innovent Biologics has announced a new partnership with Spero, a smaller biopharma firm, to develop an autoimmune drug candidate originating from Suzhou, China.

The collaboration follows a series of agreements over the past 18 months in which Innovent worked with four of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.

By turning to a smaller partner, Innovent aims to diversify its development pipeline and move beyond the GSK‑owned antibiotic assets that have been a focus of recent activity.

Details of the financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal underscores Innovent’s strategy to broaden its therapeutic reach in the autoimmune space.
