Position Overview

Medical Affairs at Bristol Myers Squibb is institutionalizing a disciplined Medical Operating System — a structured execution engine designed to translate strategy into sustained, measurable performance. The Senior Director, Medical Performance Measurement will drive the development of and embed the execution engine that ensures Medical operates with precision, transparency, and measurable impact. This role will institutionalize quarterly performance discipline, drive digital pull-through, elevate leadership capability standards, and create enterprise-grade visibility into Medical execution. By strengthening operating rigor and structured accountability, this role will enable Medical to maximize the patient impact of our growth portfolio and catalysts while elevating the organization to best-in-industry standards. This leader will be a steward of this system, ensuring that Medical operates with precision, transparency, and enterprise-grade accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture of a performance focused Medical Operating System

• Design and implement structured operating cadence (monthly + quarterly) across all Therapeutic Areas (TAs).

• Moderate quarterly Medical Impact Performance execution reviews.

• Develop and socialize standardized execution KPIs aligned to enterprise growth priorities within and across Medical.

• Surface risks, execution gaps, and performance variances with clarity and objectivity.

• Recommend and implement course corrections and structural improvements.

• Ensure consistency of execution discipline across all TAs.

Own the Medical Performance Dashboard

• Design, Implement, and continuously maintain the enterprise Medical Performance Dashboard.

• Define leading and lagging indicators spanning growth portfolio execution, digital adoption, and capability maturity.

• Maintain standing "Operating Excellence" agenda time at the MLT level.

• Establish performance transparency across the medical organization.

Benchmark and Position Medical as Best-in-Industry

• Conduct rigorous external benchmarking of Medical operating models across the pharmaceutical industry.

• Codify best practices and institutionalize them within BMS Medical.

• Partner with Finance to quantify execution ROI and demonstrate Medical's value creation.

• Support the enterprise-level narrative on Medical performance, strategic progress, and impact.

Qualifications & Experience

• BA/BS or advanced degree in a relevant field.

• 10+ years of performance execution experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences organizations.

• Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale transformation or operating model design.

• Proven track record building performance management systems, dashboards, and institutional operating cadence.

• Experience driving digital adoption and large-scale behavioral change in complex organizations.

• Highly structured thinker with exceptional operational rigor and an enterprise-wide perspective.

• Leadership versatility and executive presence.

• Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale transformation or operating model design.

• Proven track record building performance dashboards and institutional cadence.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to challenge senior leaders constructively.

• Experience driving digital adoption and behavioral change.

• Highly structured thinker with operational rigor and enterprise perspective.

• Experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing or Cross-Functional Strategy.

• Familiarity with performance management frameworks (e.g., OKRs, Balanced Scorecard).

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $224,910 - $272,538

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.

All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.

*Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers.
