About the Job Sanofi Manufacturing and Supply is shaping the future of biologics manufacturing through Modulus, an ambitious program at the heart of Sanofi's strategy. The Modulus Project is creating a new generation of evolutive, multi-product manufacturing facilities that are modular, adaptable, and agile, leveraging innovative technologies to better support vaccine and Specialty Care Biologics manufacturing.

As a Clean Utilities & Sustainability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site's clean and black utility systems, HVAC infrastructure, and sustainability programmes. You will be responsible for maintaining critical GMP utility systems, driving equipment reliability and operational excellence, supporting energy and water efficiency initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, environmental, and quality standards.

As a Clean Utilities & Sustainability Engineer, you will be:

• Leading the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical clean and black utility systems supporting GMP manufacturing.

• Ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 utility and HVAC operations to support manufacturing, laboratories, and facility infrastructure.

• Driving troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and minimize operational downtime.

• Supporting cleanroom operations and maintaining HVAC systems to ensure compliance with GMP, environmental, and quality requirements.

• Leading sustainability, energy management, and water conservation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and support Sanofi's environmental commitments.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize utility performance, deliver engineering improvements, and support site operational excellence.

• Ensuring utility systems and maintenance activities comply with GMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements through effective documentation and quality management practices.

HVAC & Cleanroom Operations

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of HVAC systems supporting GMP manufacturing and cleanroom environments.

• Manage and maintain HVAC infrastructure, including AHUs, FCUs, DX units, cold rooms, and dehumidification systems.

• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of HVAC and environmental control system issues.

• Oversee cleanroom operation, environmental monitoring support, qualification activities, and routine performance testing.

• Ensure HVAC systems consistently comply with GMP, environmental, and quality standards.

• Drive initiatives to improve HVAC system reliability, operational efficiency, and energy performance.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Minimum 3 years' experience for Engineer and 5 years' experience for Senior Engineer supporting clean and black utility systems within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biologics, medical device, API, or life sciences manufacturing environment.

• Strong hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and reliability improvement of utility and HVAC systems.

• Strong technical knowledge of: • Water for Injection (WFI)

• Purified Water (PW)

• Reverse Osmosis (RO)

• Clean Steam

• Compressed Air Systems

• Chilled Water Systems

• HVAC & Cleanroom Systems

• Clean Gases

• Wastewater Treatment Systems

• Experience in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies, including reliability engineering and root cause analysis (RCA).

• Experience with utility commissioning, qualification, performance testing, and lifecycle management within GMP facilities.

• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent.

• Experience supporting sustainability programmes, energy management systems, water efficiency initiatives, and environmental compliance will be an advantage.

• Knowledge of GMP, EHS, regulatory compliance, change management, deviation investigations, and quality management systems.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional matrix organization.

• Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and fostering a strong safety culture.
